Problems With the Heart
“O LORD, who shall sojourn in your tent? Who shall dwell on your holy hill? He who walks blamelessly and does what is right and speaks truth in his heart.”
It is not possible to walk blamelessly and do what is right without speaking the truth in the heart. And without truth in the heart, there is no hope of dwelling with God. God has designed your heart to be his habitation. When we lack his formation, we lack him. There exists a divide between the image and likeness that God has always intended for you and the image and likeness presently in our lives.
If we are honest with ourselves, there is much work to be done. But what is that work? Understanding the role of the heart, the problem of the heart and the illnesses of the heart will go a long way towards defining what it is we lack and what we need to do to become all that God intended for each of us. This starts, matures, and ends in sensitivity to your own heart.
